Hot Hands

We have these accessible at each of our reptile enclosures.  It is essential always to have these available. We also mention these in our power outage emergency kit but they are extremely helpful in an emergency to keep your reptile warm. A strong reminder to never put them directly on your reptile. Please place a towel or material in between.

Again, we have these accessible at each of our reptile enclosures.  It is essential always to have these available. We also mention these in our power outage emergency kit but they are extremely helpful in an emergency to keep your reptile warm. When needed simply place hot hands in the enclosure and an emergency blanket over the enclosure to keep the warm air in.

Pet Wrap, Self-Adhesive Non-Woven Tape

This is usually instructed to use by your vet. I would have it on hand if needed but not use it unless a dire situation arises. Most injuries heal on their own without needing to be covered.

Micro Brush Applicators

These are great general-use tools in your time of need. These are smaller than most Q-Tips and will help when your dragon has stuck shed in their eye or a tiny scale bent backwards. I use these primarily on our dragon’s face.

2'' x 2'' Sterile Gauze Pads

Pretty straightforward. It’s always good to have these nearby in emergency situations. Please make sure you do not buy the super sticky self-adhesive kind. You don’t want to stick anything directly to their scales. Gauze pads are used to soak up fluids or apply necessary ointments or cleaners such as betadine.

Betadine Antiseptic First Aid Spray

This product is a great general-use product. Do you have a small wound, a large wound, got into something, and need to just clean it out? Reach for the Betadine. We used Betadine to clean Lenny’s incision site after her surgery to prevent infection.

Miracle Care Kwik Stop Styptic Powder

I used this on our bird mostly if I cut his nails too far back but it works as a quick way to stop bleeding. The main thing is to make sure your reptile doesn’t eat or lick it. So feel free to put it on the injury but then keep an eye on them. Also note, that this is not meant to stop massive bleeding and it does burn a little.

Reptile Mite Spray

Reptile Mite spray is something to always have on hand. When we brought Sol home he had mites. While baths help the one thing that truly eradicated them was reptile mite spray. We used it in his enclosure on his hides and it’s safe to put on him. We still have it on hand for if grain mites ever break out in our Dubia colony.

Must purchase!

Vetericyn Plus (for all animals)

This eye rinse can flush your reptile’s eye of any debris that may be making it uncomfortable. Again, I reference stuck shed and stuck eyecaps. Try to warm the bottle up in your hands a little before applying so it’s more comfortable for you reptiles, do not microwave or heat the bottle. This product can be used in combination with the micro bursh applicators.

Zoo Med Reptile Electrolyte Soak

This is excellent for dehydrated reptiles. Add this to 80-90 degree bath water and let the dragon soak in it for at least 15 mins making sure the water doesn’t get too cold. I used this on Wanda for his severe Dehydration issues.

Critical Care Omnivore/Carnivore

While Critical Care Omnivore is made with bearded dragons in mind we have also used Critical Care Carnivore and that seems to be more readily available as well. We have had to use this multiple times when Caliban came to us so underweight as well as Wanda. Mix this in with their daily foods and be sure to constantly weigh them as they take on a healthy weight.

Pure Original Ingredients Bee Pollen

Organic Pee Pollen isn’t so much a first aid as it is a way to prevent becoming a first aid situation, If your animal won’t eat it’s greens, or hasn’t eaten in a while try Bee Pollen. It’s healthy and like candy to lizards. Sprinkle some atop their food and hopefully it will bring back their appetite without getting hooked on superworms.

Polysporin First Aid

Be sure to clean the wound with betadine and gauze before putting on this antibiotic ointment on the wound. You don’t have to cover it up, it will stick to their scales just fine.

Preparation H

Preparation H is to be used on prolapses to reduce the pain until you can get them to the hospital. This is not a fix for a prolapse this is simply and additional way to help your reptile cope while you get them to the vet.
