Welcome
A Journey to Where We Are Now
As this is my first blog post I thought I would start by explaining how Lovely Lenny Lizard began and how we got to where we are today. I hope you enjoy and stick around for the many articles to come.

For the betterment of the reptiles in our care.
The Inspiration
Lovely Lenny Loo came into our lives from a local rescue in November of 2019. She is 100% our gateway reptile leading to a crested gecko, a second bearded dragon, and a constant rotation of fosters in our home. I first started Lenny’s Instagram as a way to share her adorable smile with the world. Little did I know about the incredible reptile community I would find on Instagram! As the months turned into years, my desire to research and learn the best care for these cold-blooded creatures lead me to the experts in the field. Within the first year of adopting Lenny, we already had one surgery under our belt and were headed for a second one. Whose more experienced in reptiles than Exotic Veterinarians you would think?
Along with the well wishes on Instagram before each surgery, we saw her follower numbers increase, and soon I was being flooded with questions from new reptile parents. I quickly noticed the questions were repetitive and began to think, “there has to be a better way to communicate all that I know to those that ask.” While I feel needed with the late-night urgent messages asking for help, I also feel guilty if I go to bed early and don’t see it until morning.
With all that to say, I decided to create Lovely Lenny Lizard the website. A place where all can come to find information about our scaly friends. Where all are welcome, and there are no dumb questions. This is a safe space. A place where you can find the information you need, and maybe some unique artwork supporting your exotic pet as well.
My goal for this blog is to be a source of information. I hope to write about topics such as reptile safety, food, health, enrichment, lighting, rescuing, adoption, fostering, fashion, and more. I also have some interviews in the works with some pretty well-known Instagram influencers. I am looking forward to having conversations about topics and not just telling you to do as I do. I think it is extremely important to always be willing to change for the betterment of your animal. The reptile world is changing and there is always something new being researched, Many will tell you that reptile keeping is not the same as it was in the 1970’s and we have to be willing to change how we approach lighting, food, enclosure size, etc. in order to give our reptiles the best opportunity to thrive in our care.
Join me on this journey! I would love to hear from you! Do you have a reptile? Did you rescue or buy? How did you learn all that you needed to know about reptile keeping? Let me know!
This is amazing!!
