Today’s feature: ReptiBoxes!
As we spoke about in our last article one of Lovely Lenny Lizards’ core values is to SUPPORT our reptile
community. In doing so, we will feature a small business within the reptile community each Saturday!
We will spotlight one small business that we believe is an asset to the reptile community and should be
commended for their hard work. Here at Lovely Lenny Lizard, we believe every Saturday is
Small Business Saturday and we want to show them our support! Please join us as we get to know
them better and maybe introduce you to a small business you didn’t know about.
We hope you show your support by liking their posts, following their pages, and shopping
in their stores! Without further ado let’s get to know ReptiBoxes and how they contribute to
the reptile community!
~When did you start your small business?
“Late 2020.”
~What was your motivation to do so?
“I got Covid and was really sick. I was looking at my bearded dragon,
Pixels and I realized he didn’t look very comfy. It may have been my
‘covid brain’ but those brown boring hard water/food bowls and his
hard green hammock just didn’t look appealing anymore. In my
brain fog, I decided he should be able to live better, like the prince
he was and then I thought everyone’s reptile should be able to live in
happiness too! Just cause you have to be in a cage doesn’t mean it
can’t be luxurious. So, ReptiBoxes was born! “
~How has your business grown over time?
“When I first started I just bought everything I needed from the pet
store at discounted rates. Now, I’ve made so many wonderful
connections in the reptile community that make these boxes so
special and unique.”
~What would you like all your customers and potential customers to take away from supporting your small business?
“When you buy from ReptiBoxes you aren’t just supporting me and
my small business, you’re actually supporting many! 90% of the
items in my reptiboxes come from other small reptile-themed
businesses.”
~What is your favorite item to create and sell?
“Hats! I adore making hats and sharing the hat love, seeing all the
smiles and laughs people make when they see the hats. It’s amazing
and the pictures are always adorable.”
~What drives you to continue?
“When people thank me for doing what I do, it really means a lot and
most of the time it comes on dark days so it’s always appreciated.”
~What’s the most challenging thing about running your own small business?
“It’s just me. I’m not amazon. I can’t promise two day shipping or
special deals. Most of my boxes I barely break even. I’m not doing
this for money. I’m doing this because the reptile community loves it.
So when people don’t have patience and lash out at me it can be
very disheartening and challenging.”
~If you knew how much work goes into a small business at the start, would you do it again?
“Yeah. I would.”
~How do you wish your business would grow?
“I’d love to be able to do boxes for all different kinds of reptiles
and maybe create a custom box for a celebrity one day.”
~What is your advice for a new small business just starting out?
“Don’t give up. If it’s something you really enjoy and are passionate
about then keep at it. Don’t let negative people influence you at all.”
