Today’s feature:

Small Business SaturdayS Spotlight has been featuring different small business owners weekly and this week is no different! This week’s interview is first from a buyer of Lovely Lenny Lizard and then in talking at one of the shows I found out they own a business too! What better way to support them than to follow their social media pages and write a fun article on our education center featuring them?! We are happy to introduce you to this week’s spotlight Dabbledazzle Art!
Please join us as we get to know them better. We hope you show your support by liking their posts, following their pages, and shopping for their art! Without further ado let’s get to know Dabbledazzle Art!

~When did you start your small business?
“I have been creating things as far back as I can remember but launched my business in 2019.”

~What was your motivation to do so?
“Art has always been a big outlet for me and I knew I wanted it to be more than just a hobby. For years people had been telling me to sell my artwork. It has also been an effective form of therapy as I struggle with Anxiety and PTSD. “

~How have you grown over time?
“I began putting my work out to the public through Etsy in 2019. I have since gone into retail shops, taught classes, become trademarked, and been featured in art exhibits. I currently have 3 spaces in local shops where people can purchase my creations.
This month I am one of 3 artists featured at the Art Association of Harrisburg’s Midtown Soiree!”

~What would you like all your customers and potential customers to take away from supporting you?
“It truly is supporting my dream. It is scary putting yourself out there as an artist so I too support other local artists. As a small business owner, I also give back to small businesses. It has become a community for me where we can connect and help each other grow. My business is open to everyone. I believe in kindness and diversity.
Everything I make myself and every item is unique. I love providing something magical that people can connect to and purchase that they cannot get anywhere else.”

~What is your favorite thing you’ve created?
“I create a lot of mystical, magical items but my favorite would have to be my dragons and faerie villages. The world can be such a crazy place, I love stepping into a world of color and whimsy!”

~What drives you to continue?
“The fact that I have accomplished so much in so little time is incredible and I am so grateful. My goal is to continue to grow and create magic, but also to do it full-time. I would love to have my own shop.”

~What’s the most challenging thing about running your own small business?
“Time. There is never enough time. I also work a full-time job. Work and family can be a balancing act and as a solo artist, I don’t have a team of makers to complete my projects. My name is on every piece and I pride myself on creating it with love. It can be hard doing it all but I also want to show my daughter what hard work looks like and how important it is to chase her dreams.”

~If you knew how much work goes into a small business at the start, would you do it again?
“Absolutely. There is something so rewarding about doing something for myself. It belongs to me and is mine to nurture and grow. I have also learned so much.”

~How do you wish your business would grow?
“I would love to expand and have my own store where I can not only continue to create unique artwork but also provide a place for fellow artists and makers while giving back to the community.”

~What is your advice for a new small business just starting out?
“Don’t be scared to take risks. Not every risk pays off but there is learning. Continue to stay passionate and work towards your goals. Baby steps are still steps so just keep plugging away. It doesn’t happen overnight. Even on days where I feel like I can’t get anything done, I make a point to do at least one thing to help my business, even if it’s a quick social media post. Be enthusiastic about what you do because the positive energy is contagious. Surround yourself with people who share in that and stay away from energy vampires.”
